Anyway, we stayed at a B&B (Not AirBnB) in Gion where the famed director/writer Kurosawa wrote his last script. Surrounded by all the local and casual cuisines. Brings back some good memories!
I love this article. It's bringing back so many wonderful peaceful memories of Japan, Kyoto in particular. What beautiful photos and descriptions of the nearby villages. Thank you for sharing!
Beautifully written. It shares all of the beauty of this part of Japan in the rain. The rain and the grey clouds transport you back to how it was in Edo times. Kurashiki is indeed a beautiful place and could return there many times.
Very kind, Robert. These two contrasting trips were amongst the most interesting we made that year and Kurashiki just goes to show that you don’t have to visit banner attractions in the sunshine to have a beautiful, authentic travel and food experience.
Thank you very much, Carolyn! We love the buzz of Japan’s major cities, but if anything the peace and tranquillity of its small towns and countryside is even more alluring
Japan is very much an alien country to me but as ever your account is transporting and awakens my Wanderlust. Thanks!
Amazing- I’ve never met a person who has travelled to Japan and not loved it ☺️
The ceremony with which each meal is served is so beautiful. A must for foodies everywhere!
🤩🍜🇯🇵
Japan is always wonderful . Felt like I was virtually travelling with you.
I don't know how you remember all these details!
