Interesting. We went to a couple of Dodgers games when we lived in LA and it always felt a bit bloodless and lacking in passion there. The Dodger dogs and garlic fries were awesome though!
A lovely account of that flight-from-home moment all parents face. It seems unreal until the first time you walk back into an empty house and think "So this is it then?!" How you remember what you ate amid all the anxieties it entails, is beyond me! 😄
It was a very emotional week which I remember so vividly. That feeling you describe so well (in our case having flown home from London) was if anything even more difficult
What on earth was Sabrina doing hurrying you through the Frick? It's one of the finest art galleries in the world!! I will have a word with her when I see her next. Seriously, though, this was a very honest account of a beloved child coming of age.
Glad it resonated with you, Robert- it certainly was a very emotional time. These days if I really want to look at some art, I deposit Sabrina in the museum cafe!
London would have offered her a culturally richer, more cosmopolitan setting, much as she was already used to, as you say. Boston, in my brief, visits, felt more like a historical throwback, than having adapted to modern times. I need to go see Union Station in LA, and the one in San Diego too, just as soon as I can. Thanks!
American railway stations at their best are a wonder. Anupam. I’m sure she made the right decision too, but could not have foreseen at the time that a few years later we would follow her!
This really resonated as Boston is my hometown, and will always be a part of who I am.
But Brooklyn has been my home for over a decade, and at this point, it's hard for me to imagine ever living anyplace else again.
I now consider myself a New Yorker, although with baseball season just getting underway, I have no qualms about declaring #YankeesSuck!
Great to have your perspective. I’ve always wondered how many Brooklyn Dodgers fans stayed loyal after the move to LA
More than you'd think, apparently although there are very few left.
The owners were basically forced to relocate because the evil bureaucrat Robert Moses would not let them build a new stadium in Brooklyn.

Where did she chose?
Great descriptions as always xxx

Another great one! 👏
Thanks Anil!

An educational treat. Our young ones usually make the right decision if not for us but for themselves.
So true, Robert!
London, Amelia and in so doing altered the whole course of our lives. Had she chosen Brooklyn I'm sure we'd still be living stateside!
